Keep Calm and Scale Out: A Proactive Guide to Monitoring MongoDB - Jim Blackhurst

June 29, 2017

Jim Blackhurst, Senior Solutions Architect, MongoDB

It is said of all complex systems, being able to understand what goes on inside, will allow you to remain calm and in control on the outside. As with ancient Zen Koans, so it is with databases.

In this session you will complement your existing operations knowledge by learning best practices for setting up real-time monitoring of a MongoDB database. We will look in depth at the metrics available to you and how to use these to derive solid performance data from your production systems. You will then learn best practices for setting up threshold-based alerting for both routine and emergency escalations.

We will also look at how this entire pipeline can be fed into 3rd Party systems which you may already have in your organization.

Finally, you will be introduced to MongoDB's proactive monitoring team, and some of the work that they do to ensure your data remains in a calm, tranquil state of existence.
